Main Street Books first opened it's doors for business on March 27, 2006. Since the doors opened Main Street Books inventory has grown from under 4000 titles (both new and used) to over 13,000.
Products:
New Books:
Main Street Books has a wide selection of general interest titles that are tied into the booksense best seller lists and the Midwest Booksellers Association picks and lists. Main Street Books strives to have a unique selection of local interest books available as well as unusual/literary selections not available at the chain stores. Come in to the store or call and I can order your book and there will never be any shipping charges when you also pick up your order in the store.
Used and Out-of-Print Books:
Used and out-of-print books are located in the back of the store and are catalogued, alphabetized and categorized. There is a small selection available at Biblio.com of out-of-print books that can be ordered on line.
Educational Toys:
Main Street carries a large selection of quality wooden Melissa & Doug toys. From puppets to wooden puzzles to doll houses, our selection is extensive throughout the year. Toys are available for in store shoppers only. Feel free to contact us for in stock availability and gift suggestions. Main Street is planning on adding a line of Schylling toys (classic metal toys) prior to the 2007 Christmas season-- as well as some literature themed gifts.
Local Art:
As a strong supporter of the local artist community, Main Street Books consigns art work from local artists. This includes a selection of beautiful blank watercolor cards with local scenery, watercolor prints, unique one-of-a-kind journals made from recucled materials, computer generated artwork and much, much more.
The store is comfortable and unique -- from the page/art wallpaper throughout the store, to the big red leather seating area by the classics, and on to the hand-drawn map on the wall behind the big red leather couch.
Main Street Books encourages browsing and book clubs and small groups to gather in the store.
Val Stadick, owner of Main Street Books, is committed to the mission that "Main Street Books is community first--whether it be hosting events, fundraising, or just offering a comfortable chair for an elderly patron to sit down and rest . . . this is what being and shopping local means."
