More on Favorites: By Val
Every great book I read is my favorite -- until the next one. Books, I guess, are kind of like puppies (if you're small), boyfriends or girlfriends (if you are bigger), or like , er . . . books (if you are much, much older). Some are good and some are not so good and some are great. But, whatever the case of your current read, rest assured that a truly great book can always be found on the shelves of your local bookstore.
Here are our current family of favorites at Main Street Books.

Val's Pick
I started reading this one twice. The first time I picked it up I read about 15 pages and it just didn't grab me. I picked it up again about two weeks later and stayed up all night devouring it. LOVED IT! The post-apocalyptic world that Cormac McCarthy paints is very realistic and, although the novel has been called dark, it left me with the feeling of hope and survival.

Emma's Pick (age 2) I like this one the best because I really like doggies and I can hear all the barks that doggies make when mom reads it to me. I think Grandma likes this one best, too, because she likes to bark.

Jessi's Pick
The last book sums up neatly everything that has been going on in the first six books. After not reading Harry since book five came out, the author was able to explain everything to me in her usual dramatic fashion. To Harry Potter fans -- it will not disappoint and it will leave you wanting more from the author.
